The American Cornhole Organization (ACO) is kicking off its 11th annual world championships by inviting teams of local businesses and individuals to participate in an open competition with cornhole champions.

The Corporate Slyder Cup will be held Tuesday, July 26, in the exhibit hall at the Knoxville Convention Center and is open to cornhole players of all skill levels. The event, which also will feature music, drinks and food, gives local participants the chance to compete with and watch some of the best cornhole players in the world.

“This is a great way to get employees together for a little competition and a lot of fun,” said Frank Geers, ACO president and CEO. “Create a business team jersey to show team unity and bring fellow workers to cheer. Game on!”

Eagle Distributing and Bud Light are presenting sponsors of the World Slyder Cup. Doors open at 4 p.m., and the competition begins at 6 p.m.

Teams of five to seven players can register to participate, and businesses are welcome to sponsor multiple teams. One player or an additional individual is designated as team captain. Trophies and prizes will be awarded to winners.

The deadline to pre-register is July 18, and advanced registration is $150 per team. Walk-up registration is $250 per team as space allows. To register a team, visit www.americancornhole.com or call 1-888-563-2002.

The event is part of the 11th annual ACO World Championships of Cornhole being hosted July 26-30 at the Knoxville Convention Center. The ACO is recognized as the national leader in the sport of cornhole and the 2015 world championships in Knoxville were featured on ESPN’s SportsCenter.

The ACO World Championships of Cornhole is open to the public for spectators. World champions will be crowned in men’s singles, women’s singles, doubles, seniors and juniors cornhole events.
