277092_201291076600602_8070867_nThe Knoxville Convention Center was full of swag when it played host Sept. 9 to personal injury lawyer Stephen A. Burroughs’ free party and concert dubbed Swagfest 2011.

The event was inspired by a huge internet sensation which began when Burroughs announced that he would throw a party for the people of Knoxville in the Sunsphere if he received over 10,000 “likes” to his Facebook page. Within days, he surpassed his goal and decided to reward his fans with an over-the-top party.

Swagfest had over 3,000 confirmed guests, which meant a much larger facility than the Sunsphere would be needed to accommodate the crowd. The Knoxville Convention Center became the center of festivities, which included photo opportunities, tons of giveaways and live music to keep the “swaggers” entertained.

Three bands – Brewsters Millions, Johnny Astro and the Big Bang, and The Black Cadillacs – entertained as over 9,000 T-shirts were handed out and $15,000 dollars worth of free vacations and prizes were given away. Winners received mini-vacation get-aways to places like Timber Tops and Park Place in Gatlinburg. There were also prizes such as free admission to Zip Lines Adventure Park and Aquarium of the Smokies in Pigeon Forge for some lucky “swaggers.”

People of all ages gathered to be a part of Burroughs’ social media-inspired event. Whether it was for the swag, or just to be a part of the Internet sensation, Swagfest ‘11 brought community members together for a fun time here at the Convention Center.
