SEAFC-LogoThe Knoxville Convention Center will be one of the safest buildings in town this week as the Knoxville Fire Department hosts the 86th Annual Southeastern Association of Fire Chiefs annual leadership conference at our facility.

More than 350 fire chiefs from across the region will meet Jun 18-20 to see demonstrations of the latest firefighting technology in our exhibit hall and to discuss the latest strategies and protocols in firefighting. This is the organization’s first trip to Knoxville, and we are honored to host these brave individuals who risk their lives daily to keep families, homes, businesses and structures safe across the Southeast.

The SEAFC is a division of the International Association of Fire Chiefs and represents private, government operated and volunteer fire departments from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia. The fire chiefs will attend educational seminars and panels about various topics from fire code enforcement to fast-food restaurant fires. The keynote address will be given by Shane Ray, the State Fire Marshal for South Carolina.

When not participating in conference activities, the fire chiefs and their families also will have the opportunity to experience our city with excursions planned by Visit Knoxville, including behind-the-scenes tours of the Tennessee Theatre, Sunsphere, Chocolate Factory, World’s Fair Park and more!

On Friday, the Knoxville Convention Center kitchen staff will host a Southern-style biscuit-making class for the families. Executive Chef Chris Moore will share the secret to making the perfect biscuit, and guests will receive a tour of our industrial kitchen where we prepare delicious meals for thousands of people every year. The best conference takeaway will be a mouthwatering biscuit recipe!
