Grassroots Outdoor Alliance grows in Knoxville📅November 10th, 2015, 11:36
The Knoxville Convention Center has turned into an outdoor enthusiasts’ paradise this week during the annual Grassroots Outdoor Alliance trade show. The premier group of outdoor specialty retailers returns to our facility, and we’re pleased to also help Grassroots with the launch of a new marketing platform concept, Grassroots Connect.
Grassroots Outdoor Alliance is an exclusive group of more than 100 of the country’s top independent retailers, including River Sports Outfitters in Knoxville. The organization’s fall/winter annual summit Nov. 9-11 provides access to members of previews of 2016 outdoor apparel and accessories from top industry brands such as Patagonia and Marmot.
This event, which has been held in Knoxville since 2013, has grown tremendously, quadrupling its footprint from 30,000 square feet in 2014 to more than 120,000 square feet this year. The 2013 trade show welcomed 265 attendees to Knoxville. This year, the combination of the Fall/Winter Summit and Grassroots Connect topped 600 attendees!
On Nov. 11-13, Grassroots will debut a new meeting platform, Grassroots Connect, an exclusive, invitation-only preview event to streamline the seasonal meeting and marketing process between brand sales representatives and top independent retailers. In addition to Grassroots members, an additional 40 leading specialty brands and 40 specialty retailers who are not currently members of Grassroots have been invited to participate.
More than 90 retailers will meet with more than 75 of the country’s top outdoor brands to offer product and marketing feedback, review lines for the upcoming season and make pre-season orders efficiently and cost-effectively.
With this show, Grassroots gives independent retailers a greater voice in the industry, and the top brands get an opportunity to gather feedback from independent retailers about marketing and design decisions. That benefits the outdoor industry as a whole.
For Grassroots, selecting Knoxville as the location for its inaugural event was an intentional decision. Knoxville is a proven, successful gathering place for the outdoor industry and has been the host of Grassroots for three consecutive years. The group already has agreed to hold the event here in 2016. Additionally, Knoxville is a mecca for outdoor activities with numerous opportunities for hiking, biking, rafting, kayaking, climbing and much more in our Urban Wilderness located near downtown. We also are within an hour’s drive of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
At the Knoxville Convention Center, our staff welcomes the opportunity to partner with Grassroots to help make the inaugural Grassroots Connect a successful event. We are excited that Knoxville has been selected as the blueprint for this new model of connecting the independent outdoor industry.
