women_today_logoLadies, this weekend at the Knoxville Convention Center it’s all about you. The 20th annual Women Today expo presented by the Knoxville News Sentinel starts March 1 in our facility, and celebrates all aspects of a modern woman’s life.

Our female staff at the Knoxville Convention Center really look forward to this annual event. Every year, we marvel at the opportunities to relax, rejuvenate, discover new interests and explore your personal style. Our male staff members also pick up tips about pleasing the lucky women in their life. We have more than 100 booths in our exhibition hall with a wide array of services, products and demonstrations, and we expect more than 12,000 guests!

There is great entertainment planned throughout the March 1-2 weekend on the Women Today stage. At 12:15 p.m. and 3:50 p.m. on Saturday, HGTV stars Chris and Peyton Lambton from “Going Yard” will present “Yard Sustainability and Trends,” a chat about creating outdoor living spaces and features through landscaping and gardening.

By coming to Women Today, Peyton returns to her roots. She grew up in Kingsport and attended the University of Tennessee. The Lambtons met after they both competed on ABC’s “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette” on different seasons of the show.

Another highlight will be cooking demonstrations held on the cooking stage throughout the weekend presented by local restaurants, including Copper Cellar, Buttermilk Sky Pie Shop and Gourmet’s Market. Celebrity Chef Jon Ashton will be conducting demonstrations on both days. He is currently the food correspondent for “The Daily Buzz,” a nationally syndicated morning radio show on more than 160 stations.

Fashion is also a large part of Women Today. At 2 p.m. on Saturday and 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, Marc Nelson Denim clothing will present a fashion show with the latest trends in blue jeans. Belk will hold a spring fashion show for adults and children immediately following at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. You won’t want to miss it!

One of my favorite activities at Women Today are the free beauty and spa treatments. Belk has a mini-makeover area to enjoy complimentary makeup services and beauty advice. If you need a trim, Salon Visage is offering free dry haircuts to those who sign up at the event.

There is so much going on at Women Today that you don’t want to miss. Activities are scheduled from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 2. Tickets are only $5 and children ages 12 and younger are free. Students receive free admission on Saturday with a valid student ID, and seniors receive free admission on Sunday.

So ladies, I hope to see you at the Knoxville Convention Center this weekend for some much deserved pampering!
