20140826_115137I never tire of praising the outstanding work of our excellent employees at the Knoxville Convention Center. Our staff members are passionate about their job, and it shows in the high-quality service they provide our clients every day.

At this month’s National SAVOR… Meeting of 140 SMG food and beverage departments across the country, the Knoxville Convention Center took home two great honors. At the end of the conference held at the Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center in Long Beach, Calif., Shaun Beard, the senior vice president of SAVOR… presented the first-ever Pillar of Excellence awards to the heads of five operations, including our very own Food and Beverage Director Kim Beets!

Kim was honored with the “Attract, Develop and Retain Young Leaders Award.” Kim’s talented food and beverage staff are the best of the best, and it’s in large part due to her leadership. The Knoxville Convention Center hosts approximately 240 events every year that range from large-scale formal dinners to intimate cocktail receptions. The food and beverage department expertly handles every detail.

As a representative from the Knoxville Convention Center, Kim also was asked to put together a portfolio of the programs and accomplishments of the food and beverage department over the past few years. The portfolio included information about major events, awards, farm-to-table initiatives, our employees’ many hours of community service and the department’s creative ideas, including starting a Pinterest page. Knoxville’s portfolio received third place out of the 140 operations!

I am very proud of our Food and Beverage Team for also cooking up great ideas and bringing home the gold for the KCC!
