The brightest minds in social media are Tweeting, Facebooking and Instagramming their way to the Knoxville Convention Center today for the third annual Social SLAM. Last year, we had about 600 social media mavens from Knoxville and the surrounding region, and this year promises to be bigger and better than ever!

Social SLAM, known on Twitter as #SoSlam, is an annual one-day conference hosted by the Social Media Club of Knoxville. The conference is renowned for its world-class speakers and networking opportunities in both the physical and online arenas. The long list of social media experts includes:

Xan Pearson – Vice President of Marketing and Corporate  Partnerships for the Chicago Bulls and Chicago White Sox
Gabrielle Laine-Peters – Hertfordshire Director of Capital Business Media Group
John Jantsch – President of Duct Tape Marketing
Ian Clearly – CEO of RazorSocial based out of Dublin, Ireland

The Knoxville Convention Center already has great social networks, and my team and I will get to learn social media tips from the absolute best. Staying engaged with our current and potential customers on Facebook is a top priority here, keeping them up-to-date on our ongoing events and the excellent capabilities of the KCC. The feedback we receive from all of you through social media makes us a better convention center. We are always here to serve YOU!

At the Knoxville Convention Center, it’s all about inviting guests in to experience Knoxville and our state-of-the-art facility. With social media, we can do that on a whole new level. We see our social media outlets as an open invitation to come and experience events at the Convention Center on a deeper level and keep your finger on the pulse for amazing conferences, receptions and conventions happening in Knoxville.

Our more than 5,000 Facebook fans get a behind-the-scenes look at events moving into the center and are the first ones notified when something great is coming. In January, we announced that the Antiques Roadshow is coming to the Knoxville Convention Center in July to our Facebook fans. Nearly 10,000 people saw the great news!

Social Slam is one of my favorite events all year, and I’m excited to learn new and exciting ways to use social media to make people even more connected to the Knoxville Convention Center.

For more information on the conference, please visit or follow the action by searching the Twitter hashtag #soslam.  Follow the Knoxville Convention Center on Twitter at @knoxconvcenter and be sure to post your pictures and comments from the event on our Facebook page!
